Welcome to the Carpenter's House, a place of spiritual hospitality for building relationships with God. We believe in the power of human connection to welcome and experience God. We host others to foster intimacy with God and self as they ask who they are - and who they are becoming. In this calling, we are committed to:
Discernment
Discernment is exploring wants and needs in ways that lead to energy, focus, and commitment. We extend hospitality in the spaces between naming wants and needs, understanding them more deeply, and knowing what action to take. We help identify and trust how God is present and working in those spaces to provide clarity.
Creativity
God is the ultimate Host, providing freedom to creatively define who we are. Saying ‘yes’ to our belovedness can help this process. It is the invitation God extended to Jesus: to learn about trusting and acting in faith. Jesus accepted the offer and provides a model for us of discernment through the highs and lows of the earthly, spiritual journey with others.
Trust
Trust flows from the safety of loving relationships with God and others. We seek to strengthen these relationships. Doing so requires being present, available, and committed to oneself, God’s invitations, and the power of being with others pursuing meaning. This requires constant discernment grounded in an attitude of hospitality toward God and the whole self.
Presence
God uses connection with others to move and shape us. We offer presence that facilitates, catalyzes, and connects aspects of spiritual growth. Our prayer is not only 'Come, Holy Spirit, come to this place,' but also 'Come guest, come host, come.' The Spirit is here each time we connect. It can help us grow if we truly come, being present to God, self, and others.

We are currently providing pastoral counseling and spiritual direction. Please let us know if we might help you in your discernment.
With prayers for what you want and need,
Yonce Shelton, Host
